I follow the same format as with the male religious. I publish last year’s article, which includes those from previous years, and at the end of each institute I update it with the latest year’s data. I fear a poor result, but I may be in for a surprise. Whatever the case, it will be reflected here without hiding anything. Good or bad. It should only be noted that the percentages of losses refer to the numbers from 1973, so in reality they are greater than those listed here, since that year they had already suffered notable defections.
A situation as bad or worse than that of the male religious. Many on the brink of death or on a decided path toward it. And many cannot be identified by their outward appearance. Like the male religious. Although in these there is a different case. If you see a disguised religious, you don’t know if he is one or if he is a truck driver, a high-ranking executive (there are those too), or a simple bank clerk or an insurance salesman. With many of the empty convents of nuns, if you come across them you have no doubt: that is a nun. There is no one, or almost no one, who without being one would dress so outlandishly. In most male religious the secularization has been a personal choice. Among the nuns, less so. They obeyed their superiors, let themselves be deceived by their confessors, believed that this way they were going to take over the world… And now they see what they have taken. Not a crumb. I also think that among the secularized nuns there is much better people than among them. Although surely with less intelligence. Or almost none. Not a few found themselves in this situation with the best of intentions. Although vilely deceived. And many try to continue their vocation with even generous dedication and even with prayer. Although there are also some, generally in positions of authority, who are worse than poison. And a testimony of admiration for true martyrs. I am moved when in a large group of worldly nuns one appears in the holy habit. The pressures, mockery, and villainies she must have endured. My testimony of admiration goes to those strong women who want to die with what they once, with so much love for Christ and so much hope, put on. He will surely reward them.
So here is the situation as of January 1, 2023, according to the 2024 Pontifical Annuario.
Given the date, the impact of Covid is already included.
Sacred Heart (Madeleine Sophie Barat): They were the educators of the highest Spanish society. I will not now go into their also pathetic success with their pupils. Among the first to be secularized to absolute extremes. And so it went for them. In 1973 there were 6,239; forty years later barely 2,361 elderly women remain. 82 fewer than the previous year. And this descent into the abyss without brakes shows no sign of being reversed. They are happy in their suicide. They have lost 63% of the institute and without the slightest reaction to such a colossal failure. Would it not be time for Braz de Anís to intervene? Does that useless man, or that evil man, really believe the problem is the Franciscans of the Immaculate? Death, of course, strikes the old more than the young. And here all are old. The coming years, in the short term, are going to be tragic for the Society of the Sacred Heart.
The fall into the abyss continues. As of January 1, 2014, barely 2,269 elderly women remained. 92 fewer than the previous year. So the annual decrease increases. And it will increase in the following years. They are already at a 64% loss of what they once were. And so happy.
As of January 1, 2015, only 2,190 remained. 79 fewer than the previous year. The decline is now at 65% and the trend seems unstoppable.
A year later, as of January 1, 2020, only 1,777 remained. 84 religious were lost in one year. And with their age and the pandemic, this is going to get much worse. The institute’s losses are already, at least, 72%.
As of January 1, 2021, there were only 1,683. In one year 94 disappeared, and those who remain are a group of elderly women one year older than the previous year. The loss of the “society” now reaches 74%, and referred to 1974, compared with the years of the Council it will approach 80%. A monumental and now irremediable collapse.
Carmelites of Charity (Vedrunas). Spanish foundation of that great saint, Joaquina de Vedruna. And with notable presence in our homeland. In 1973 there were 3,241; in 2013 barely 1,859 remained. Mostly elderly. 45 fewer than the previous year. And that is going to increase. Nor is there any sign of reaction in them. They continue happy in their suicide. These have only lost the trifling 43% of their religious. Almost “nothing.” So let them continue happily like this. The last one to close the door and turn off the light. These too continue to decline. As of January 1, 2014, there were 1,821, 38 fewer than the previous year. They are already at 44% losses. As of January 1, 2015, there were only 1,768; death continues to wreak havoc. In one year they lost 53 religious. And each year more will disappear. The loss is now 46%.
As of January 1, 2016, we see the decrease continues and accelerates. In one year they lost 60 religious and only 1,708 remain. Today, a year and a half later, we can suppose they have not only lost the reference of the 1,700 but also, or almost, that of the 1,600. At this rate, extinction is also near. The loss is now 48%. And the real one, based on what they were in the sixties, is surely quite above 50%.
As of January 1, 2017, 1,647 remained, losing 61 religious in one year. They are already at 50% decrease.
As of January 1, 2019, the trend does not break; 1,532 remain, 67 fewer than a year earlier. They have already lost 53% of the institute.
The trend does not change and as of January 1, 2020, there were 1,471, 61 fewer than the previous year. The loss of the congregation now reaches, and we repeat that it is a bit more, 55%.
As of January 1, 2021, they had dropped to 1,395. The ruin now reaches at least 57% and in reality will be around 60% or more.
A year later only 1,344 remained, 51 fewer than a year earlier, with a collapse of 59%.
As of January 1, 2023, 50 stayed in the gatehouse. Only 1,294 remain. The calamity has now reached 61%.
As of January 1, 2024, 59 more were lost: 1,235. 62%.
As of January 1, 2025, 57 religious were lost: 1,178. They now lose 64%.
Company of Mary (Religious of the Teaching). Meritorious the work of the Daughters of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac carried out in our homeland among young people of the middle classes. They were a true benchmark of good work. But winter and worldliness also came to them. With splendid results. For the devil. In 1973 there were 3,120; in 1973 barely 1,474 remained. 46 fewer than the previous year. Others who are not going to ruin, because they are already in it, but to death itself. They have left 53% of the order by the wayside. And that is going to increase.
Yes, it is going to increase. As of January 1, 2014, they had dropped to 1,442, 32 fewer than the previous year. And they are already at 54% loss. As of January 1, 2015, there were 1,397, 45 fewer than the previous year. Figures that by the imperative of age will increase. Fewer and fewer enter and more and more die. The decrease is now at 56%.
As of January 1, 2016, they had dropped to 1,352; again 45 religious were left by the wayside. The loss is now 57%.
As of January 1, 2017, 1,306 remained, 46 religious fewer than the previous year. The decrease now reaches 59%.
As of January 1, 2018, they had dropped to 1,255, 51 fewer than a year earlier. A 60% decrease.
As of January 1, 2019, the same thing repeats every year. Only 1,209 remain, 46 fewer than the previous year, 62%.
A year later, as of January 1, 2020, there were only 1,157. Fifty-two who stayed in the gatehouse between deaths and departures. The loss rises to at least 63%.
As of January 1, 2021, 1,092 remained. 65 religious stayed by the wayside in one year. About to lose the thousand mark from the impotence of barely a thousand elderly women. The loss is now 65%. Referred to 1974. In reality it will approach 70%.
As of January 1, 2022, only 1,043 remained, 49 fewer than a year earlier. Disaster of 67%.
As of January 1, 2023, 36 more disappeared. 1,007 remain. The losses are now 68%. And surely a year and four months later they have already lost the thousand mark.
Well, they have already lost it. As of January 1, 2024, there were only 950. 57 fewer than a year earlier. They lose 70%.
As of January 1, 2025, 52 religious disappeared, leaving 898. 72%.
Discalced Carmelites (Marvellous): Constitutions of 1990. In 2007 there were 1,856. In 2013, 1,783. With a decrease of 37 from the previous year. They have lost 5%, which for what we are seeing is nothing, although it is in the last six years. As of January 1, 2014, 1,753 remained, with a decrease of 30 from the previous year. They have a 6% loss. As of January 1, 2015, there were 1,739, 14 fewer than the previous year. The loss is only 7%. It seems a miracle of God. Because it must be taken into account that when they were constituted there were many elderly women in their convents. New vocations do not cover the deaths, but the loss is minimal.
As of January 1, 2016, 1,671 remained, 68 fewer than the previous year. And the decrease now rises to 10%. Although that percentage is the real one.
As of January 1, 2017, 1,646 remained, 25 fewer than the previous year. The decrease is 12%.
As of January 1, 2018, there were 1,585, 61 fewer than a year earlier. They have lost 15%.
As of January 1, 2019, 1,566, 19 religious lost in the year. They continue at 15%.
As of January 1, 2020, they rise to 1,579, thirteen more than a year earlier. They remain at 15% decrease.
As of January 1, 2021, a spectacular increase: 1,691. One hundred twelve more nuns than the previous year. If there is no error, a miracle. The decrease drops to 9%.
As of January 1, 2022, 30 disappear from last year’s miracle and 1,661 remain. Now an 11% loss.
As of January 1, 2023, they increase by 39: 1,700. The decrease reduces one point: 10%. Extraordinary results.
As of January 1, 2024, they lose 182 nuns. 1,518 remain. They lose 19%.
As of January 1, 2025, there were 1,670, 52 more nuns!
Discalced Carmelites (Not Marvellous): Constitutions of 1991. There were 9,587 in 2007 and 8,988 remain in 2013. With a loss of 192 from 2012. These, in the same period, 6% of what they were. They go very much in step, with a very slight advantage in favor of the marvellous, and with excellent results for both compared to what is happening. However, I think the future is more encouraging for the followers of Mother Maravillas. When the division was made, very favorable to the non-marvellous because it was enough for one religious to oppose for the Carmel not to join the marvellous, that has meant that the Carmels of this group have an average age higher than those of the segregated. And that will be noticed, I think, in the coming years. As of January 1, 2014, there were 8,941, 47 fewer than the previous year. The loss is at 7%. Personally, both seem marvellous to me and all are daughters of the great Teresa. May the saint, in her fifth centenary, grant them vocations that will take them out of negative numbers, although many others would already like those.
As of January 1, 2015, there were 8,765, with a loss of 176 Carmelites. This seems to confirm what we had said. That tomorrow seems more favorable to the “marvellous” than to these. The loss is 9%, an excellent figure for what we are seeing, but the point they had of difference is now two.
As of January 1, 2016, 8,663 remained, 102 fewer than a year earlier. They are already, like those of the 1990 Constitutions, at a 10% loss.
As of January 1, 2017, 8,449 remained, 214 fewer religious. The decrease is 12%.
As of January 1, 2018, 8,330 remained, 119 fewer. 14% loss.
And on the same date the following year, 8,124, 206 fewer nuns. They lose 16%.
As of January 1, 2020, there were 7,919, 205 fewer than the previous year. The decrease rises to 18%. And the difference between marvellous and non-marvellous is now three points in favor of the former.
As of January 1, 2021, a clear distancing between both branches of the female Carmel is already marked. Those of the 1991 Constitutions drop to 7,645, with a loss of 274 nuns in one year. So the decrease rises to 15%. And the difference between both is now 4 points. I fear, because although my sympathies are more with the marvellous, all seem excellent to me, that this will be the tone of the future.
The new year’s data confirm what we predicted: 7,544, 101 fewer than a year earlier. The break now rises to 16%.
The last year has been terrible, confirming the downward line they have been showing. They have lost 231 nuns: 7,313. They are already at 24% decrease.
As of January 1, 2024, it has been optimal with an increase of 174 nuns: 7,487 squanders the previous year’s results. The loss drops to 22%.
As of January 1, 2025, 319 nuns are lost: 7,168, so the decrease of the institute is now 26%.
Augustinians: There were 1,446 in 1973 and in 2013 only 806 remained. But there were 43 more than the previous year. They have decreased by 45%. It seems they continue to recover. As of January 1, 2014, there were already 813, 7 more than the previous year. The percentage of losses improves. It is now at 44. As of January 1, 2015, negative numbers return and they had dropped to 797, 16 fewer than the previous year. And the loss returns to 45%.
As of January 1, 2016, they continued to decline: 788, 9 fewer than a year earlier. They are already at 46% decrease.
As of January 1, 2017, they continue to decrease: 760. 28 religious were lost. The decrease has risen two points: 48%.
As of January 1, 2018, they rose to 772, 12 more than a year earlier, so the accordion of losses drops one point, 47%.
Joy does not last long in the poor man’s house, for a year later they began 2019 with only 747. 25 nuns had evaporated. The loss rises to 49%.
As of January 1, 2020, they continued to lose nuns, 727 remained, twenty fewer than the previous year. They have already lost 50% of the members since 1973, more compared to previous years.
As of January 1, 2021, there were already 713, fourteen fewer than a year earlier. The loss, 51%.
On the same date in 2022, they had dropped to 605, with a loss of 108 nuns that raise the tear to 59%.
As of January 1, 2023, there are 67 more nuns: 672. Do we believe it? If so, the loss would have dropped to 54%.
As of January 1, 2024, there were 658, 14 fewer than a year earlier: 55%.
As of January 1, 2025, 16 nuns were lost: 642. 56%.
Benedictines: The 7,534 that there were in 1973 have been reduced to 4,019 in 2013. And there were 134 fewer than in 2012. In a very similar situation to the previous ones, in percentage, although somewhat worse. These have lost 47% of the nuns.
As of January 1, 2014, they continue to decline. There are now only 3,958. 61 fewer than the previous year. It seems the Forcades does not attract vocations. They are already at 48% loss.
As of January 1, 2015, the descent continues: 3,825, 133 fewer Benedictines. The decrease has now reached 50%.
As of January 1, 2016, we continue in the hemorrhage. There were already 3,764, 61 fewer than the previous year. The loss is 51%.
And the decrease does not cease; as of January 1, 2017, 3,664 remained, one hundred fewer than the previous year. The decrease now reaches 52%.
And almost as bad the beginning of 2018 that finds them with 3,578 nuns, 86 fewer than a year earlier. The percentage of loss is already 53%.
Worse the following year, for they begin 2019 with 3,462 nuns, 116 fewer than on the same dates in 2018, so the decrease is now 55%.
As of January 1, 2020, they have had a slight rebound of 13 nuns: 3,475. The decrease loses one point: 54%.
As of January 1, 2021, they descend again: 3,462 Benedictines. Thirteen fewer than a year earlier. They return to 55%.
As of January 1, 2022, 3,387 remained, 75 fewer than a year earlier and a decrease of 56%.
The Annuario gives for January 1, 2023, 1,623 nuns, which would imply a loss of 1,761 nuns!!! Either it is an error or the data from previous years were greatly inflated and now they have corrected it. If so, the loss would have gone to 79%.
As of January 1, 2024, they are again 3,204, so it seems the 2023 data were an error. So we are 183 nuns fewer than two years ago. So the losses return to 58%.
As of January 1, 2025, 50 nuns are lost: 3,154. 59%.
Bernardines (Cistercians): In 1973 there were 2,263 and forty years later barely 917 remained. And there were 17 fewer than in 2012. They have lost 60% of the nuns. As of January 1, 2014, 910 remained, 7 fewer than the previous year. So they are doing badly. And surely all are very good, very pious, and very inhabited. Their problem is not so much in them but in the secularization of society and in the null capacity, and unfortunately interest, of priests, or the vast majority of them, in bringing vocations to the monasteries. And the worst is that to no place. And so they are. They continue with a 60% loss.
As of January 1, 2015, only 855 remained; in one year 55 nuns were lost. And what will come in the successive ones. The loss is now 63%.
As of January 1, 2016, 836 remained, 19 fewer than the previous year. A 64% decrease.
As of January 1, 2017, there were barely 809, 27 fewer than a year earlier. The decrease is now at 65%.
As of January 1, 2018, the hemorrhage continued: 797, 12 fewer than a year earlier. They continue at 65%.
A year later there were 764, 33 nuns lost, so the decrease rises to 67%.
As of January 1, 2020, they continue to lose nuns and in large numbers: 86, 678 remain. The decrease is now 71%.
The hemorrhage continues as of January 1, 2021: 636 nuns. Forty-two fewer than a year earlier. And all elderly awaiting definitive closure. The loss 72%.
As of January 1, 2022, there were 8 more than a year earlier, 644. They remain at 72%.
As of January 1, 2023, they lose 13 nuns; 631. 73%.
As of January 1, 2024, a somewhat plausible result: 744 Bernardines, 113 more than a year earlier. If they were true. The loss would be 68%.
The previous figure must have been a mirage because as of January 1, 2025, they are again 616, 128 fewer than those attributed to the previous year. So the decrease of the order returns to 73%.
Poor Clares: They were undoubtedly the most numerous contemplatives and they continue to be so, although with a notable decline. Of the 10,020 there were in 1973, 6,784 remained in 2013. Fifteen fewer than the previous year. They decreased only 33%, which for what we are seeing is a percentage almost to be congratulated for.
As of January 1, 2014, there were 6,778, with only a decrease of 6 nuns from the previous year. That is an optimal result. They continue with a 33% loss. But in all these autonomous houses, grouping them hides the reality. Soria, Belorado, Cantalapiedra overflow with vocations. And other houses are closing. Those that receive novices disguise the failure of others.
As of January 1, 2015, there were already 6,686; 92 have disappeared. The loss is now 34%, which for what there is they could almost be congratulated.
As of January 1, 2016, the Clares do not rebound either. They had dropped to 6,579, 107 fewer than a year earlier. The decrease rises to 35%.
And as of January 1, 2017, they continued to decline: 6,352, so 227 Clares have been lost. The decrease now rises to 37%.
As at the beginning of the following year, which began with 6,210 nuns, 142 fewer than last year, they lose 39% of the institute.
2019 does not improve either; the nuns are 6,106, 104 fewer than a year earlier and the decrease 40%.
The descent continues as of January 1, 2020. The nuns had dropped to 6,056. Fifty fewer than the previous year. They remain at 40% decrease.
As of January 1, 2021, 6,010 remained, 46 fewer than a year earlier. 41% decrease.
As of January 1, 2022, there were 5 more: 6,015. 40%.
As of January 1, 2023, 86 fewer: 5,929. The loss returns to 41%.
As of January 1, 2024: 5,752, 177 nuns lost. 43%.
As of January 1, 2025, there are 62 more nuns: 5,814. So the decrease of the order drops to 42%.
Capuchin Poor Clares: The 2,365 of 1973 had descended as of January 1 of last year to 1,943. Twenty-two fewer than in 2012. They have lost only 19% of the Capuchins. Many would like that percentage. As of January 1, 2014, they had dropped to 1,912. With a loss of 31 from the previous year. That is notable in nuns of relatively so few members. Their loss has now risen to 20%. Although many congregations would like it for themselves.
Another year and they have not improved, undoubtedly due to the age of not a few of them. As of January 1, 2015, they had dropped to 1,838, 74 nuns lost. The decrease is now 23%.
As of January 1, 2016, they continued in their downward line; 1,793 remained, with the loss of 45 nuns. A 25% decrease.
As of January 1, 2017, there were 1,763, thirty fewer than the previous year. The decrease is at 26%.
They began 2018 with 1,723, 40 fewer than on the same dates last year; the decrease rises two points: 28%.
As of January 1, 2019, there were 1,708, 15 fewer than a year earlier. The decrease passes to 29%.
As of January 1, 2020, there were 2 more nuns: 1,710. Remains at 29%.
As of January 1, 2021, the reductions return: 1,692. 28 nuns fall. Continues at 29%.
As of January 1, 2022, 48 more nuns are lost, leaving 1,644. The tear rises to 31%.
As of January 1, 2023, there are 27 fewer nuns: 1,617. The decrease is now 35%.
As of January 1, 2024, there were 1,517, 57 fewer nuns than a year earlier. The loss remains at 35%.
As of January 1, 2025, there were 45 more nuns: 1,562. So the loss drops to 33%.
Conceptionist Franciscans: They have descended from the 2,777 of 1973 to 1,669 of 2013. 41 fewer than in 2012. They have lost 40% of the nuns. As of January 1, 2014, they had dropped to 1,647, so there were 22 fewer than the previous year. They do not seem optimistic figures. And they are already at 41% losses. As of January 1, 2015, they continued to decline and there were only 1,584, 63 fewer than the previous year. So the decrease is now 44%.
As of January 1, 2016, we note glorious data; in one year they had lost only one nun: there were 1,583. The loss remains at 44%.
As of January 1, 2017, it comes worse. 1,549 nuns, which imply a loss of 34. And a decrease of 45%.
At the beginning of 2018, there were 1,538, 11 fewer than a year earlier. They continue at 45%.
Worse for them was the year 2018, for they began 2019 with 1,467 nuns, so 71 Conceptionists were lost. The decrease is 48%.
As of January 1, 2020, they continued to lose nuns: 41. 1,426 remained. The loss passes to 49%.
As of January 1, 2021, 1,409. Seventeen fewer nuns. 50%.
As of January 1, 2022, there were 20 fewer nuns: 1,389. The loss remains at 50%.
As of January 1, 2023, 23 nuns disappear; 1,366. 51%.
As of January 1, 2024, 16 more nuns are lost: 1,350. 52%.
As of January 1, 2025, 34 nuns were lost: 1,316. 53%.
Dominicans: The 5,660 of 1973 were, forty years later, 2,668. With a decrease of 37 from the previous year. They have fallen by 53%. The Dominicans are not having a good year either. As of January 1, 2014, they had already dropped to 2,596. With a decrease of 72 from the previous year. Nor does the Caram drag. They are already at a 55% decrease.
As of January 1, 2015, there were 2,537, 59 disappeared in one year. The loss is now 56%.
And the decline increases. 76 nuns disappeared in one year and only 2,461 remain as of January 1, 2016. The decrease is now at 57%.
As of January 1, 2017, they continue to worsen; 2,366 Dominicans remain; in one year 95 religious disappeared and the decrease rises to 59%.
Worse 2017, for the following year found them with 2,262 nuns, 104 fewer than a year earlier. The loss is 61%.
As of January 1, 2019, there were 2,206, 56 fewer Dominicans than a year earlier. They have already decreased by 62%.
As of January 1, 2020, the liquidation trend continues, with 63 nuns disappearing: 2,143. The loss rises to 63%.
As of January 1, 2021, the hemorrhage continues: 45 nuns left. 2,098 remain. 63%.
As of January 1, 2022, only 2,038 remain, 60 fewer nuns than a year earlier. The collapse is now 64%.
As of January 1, 2023, 9 nuns have been lost: 2,029. 65%.

Hieronymites: The 258 of 1973 had descended, after forty years, to 195. Six fewer than in 2012. They lost 26%. As of January 1, 2014, they continue to be 195. In one year they have not lost any nun. Or if they have lost some, they compensated with the same entry. They are few but they hold up quite acceptably for what there is. The impulse of Sor Cristina de Arteaga seems not to have died. A year later they only descended by 2 nuns, being 193. The biggest problem they have is the small size of the order. They remain at a 26% decrease.
In nuns of advanced age and I think with external and scarce vocations, that bonanza could not last. The decrease in the last year was already 16 nuns, so they have dropped to 173. So the decrease is now 33%.
As of January 1, 2017, they continue to hold their own, for they have lost only one nun: there are 172, so the loss is 34%.
A year later, fortune continues to smile on them, for in the whole previous year they lost only another nun. They inaugurated the year with 171 religious. They remain at 34%.
2018 was worse; as of January 1, 2019, 160 nuns found them, 11 fewer than a year earlier. They have already lost 38%.
As of January 1, 2020, one nun had disappeared: 159. 39%.
As of January 1, 2021, it came much worse. Thirteen nuns left in 2020; 146 elderly women remain. Although the decrease is 44%, the future is very black, being so few and so old.
Well, at the beginning of 2022 the 146 elderly women continued, 44% and the very black future.
As of January 1, 2023, they had increased by 2: 148. 43%.
As of January 1, 2024, there were 145; 3 disappeared. 44% is the decrease of the congregation at least.
As of January 1, 2025, they lose another nun: 144. 45%.
Salesians: 6,500 in 1973. In 2013 barely 1,929 remained. And there were 35 fewer than the previous year. They have lost, in a monumental collapse, 71% of the nuns. And that is not corrected. As of January 1, 2014, they had dropped to 1,887, 32 fewer than the previous year. And the ones who remain are very aged. They are already at a 72% loss. For all these cloistered nuns, cloister very doubtful in some like the Forcades or the Caram, the secularization of religious of their same charism or of priests who have disengaged from cultivating female vocations has been tragic. As of January 1, 2015, they continue to decline and only 1,851 remain. 36 fewer than the previous year. They seem to me one of the orders most threatened by the old age of almost all of them. They remain at 72% of what they were in 1973.
As of January 1, 2016, only 1,808 remained. 43 fewer than a year earlier. The decrease is 73%. I think they are among the most threatened with extinction. In the coming years the decreases due to deaths are going to be massive.

As of January 1, 2021, 1,529. 66 nuns lost in one year. The decrease since 1974 is 77%. The real one may exceed 80%. And all very old. The disappearance of the Salesians is inevitable and near.
Nothing has improved with the arrival of 2022. The year began with 1,498 nuns, 31 fewer than a year earlier, and the immense collapse continues at 77%.

Augustinian Sisters of the Protection: Founded in Mallorca by Canon Sebastián Gili Vives in 1859. In 1986 there were 160. In 2013, 107 remained. 15 fewer than the previous year. Very black future although they have only lost 34% of the congregation. Today there will already be fewer than 100. As of January 1, 2014, there were only 106. We were wrong in the conjecture that they had already dropped below one hundred, but that continues on a very near horizon. So we continue to be wrong, with great joy on our part, for as of January 1, 2015, they not only have not lost the hundred mark but are two more than the previous year, 108. They have gained one point in the percentage of loss, which is now 33%.

With an increase of 27 religious. I am credulous before miracles, but some do not quite convince me. Taking those figures as good, they would have lost only 16%. Six points less than the previous year. Are they deceiving? Have they found a Sister Veronica in the congregation?
