León XIV said in an impromptu remark, on his way to the car and almost in passing, that the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X would be outside ecclesial communion because “it refuses to accept some fundamental elements of the Church, starting with several points of Vatican Council II”. And as I myself am not of the Fraternity, but a bad Catholic who would want to die inside the Church, the words of the Pope generate a worrisome doubt for me: exactly what do I have to believe in order that I myself don’t suffer the same fate?
