The Diocese of Zamora reports its former vicar general to the Rota Tribunal for financial irregularities
I discussed the news with a priest friend from Zamora, who told me about a small but active priestly lobby working to govern the diocese instead of the bishop, making life very difficult for the diocese’s bishops, and that many attribute the leadership of this lobby to the former vicar general. He also mentioned that the current bishop did not let himself be intimidated like his predecessors, and that’s how things reached this point.
He also told me: “Finally, we’ve got a bishop.” I asked him what he thought of him, and he said he’s very hardworking and quite popular, which is easy to see from the number of people who greet him with a big smile when they cross paths, and he responds to everyone. He also mentioned that he has established perpetual adoration in the city, which the lobby did not like.
