They tell me from Argentina
«The dismissal of Father Adolfo Granillo Ocampo -about to complete 25 years as a priest-, from the rectorship of the Eucharistic Sanctuary of Jesús Sacramentado, in the Almagro neighborhood -just one year after taking office-; and the abrupt request -through his vicar general, Pedro Cannavó- to Father Walter Marchetti, to leave the parish of Nuestra Señora de Balvanera (Sanctuary of San Expedito), caused an explosion of indignation among the porteño clergy, with its archbishop, the «Cuervo» García Cuerva.
«After having paid a good part of the pathetic spectacle of the ‘DJ priest’, in Plaza de Mayo -commented an experienced ‘periphery’ parish priest-, this is the drop that overflowed the glass. We are fed up with his despotism, mistreatment, and shouts. Even Pope Francis himself regretted having appointed him. And that’s why he took away from Buenos Aires the status of being Argentina’s primatial diocese.»
He also said that «the indignation is no longer disguised. A parish priest asked the «Cuervo» for explanations a few days ago, in the sacristy of the Seminary, about the replacement of Granillo Ocampo, without any moral reasons intervening, and he only received a barrage of shouts in response. His classist resentments, as a hardened Kirchnerist, are undisguisable. And for that, he counts on the obsequiousness of his lamentable auxiliary bishops; three of whom he had appointed himself.»
And he added: «They like young priests, whom they can handle at will. In fact, he became very chummy with two parish priests, one 45 and the other 47; whom he constantly entertains. It is very likely that, as a member of the Dicastery for Bishops, he seeks to make them bishops. That’s how we are!»
New arrogances of the plebeian porteño ordinary. Who, to demonstrate his «poorism», went to live in a house of the archbishopric, in Bajo Flores, which of course, he had conveniently renovated. As happened with his late mentor with the Casa Santa Marta, in the Vatican: pretending to be poor, with other people’s money, costs very dearly.»
