I never liked the King of Spain’s wife. Although she seems far less bad than the Prime Minister’s wife. I always thought her display—whether professed or attributed—of atheism or of being outside the Catholic Church was stupid and suicidal. It might be that in the future she will need votes that it is absurd to alienate without gaining the slightest benefit from it.
But I must also say that this morning, with the Pope, she presented herself several times as a Catholic queen.
I think that is very good if it stems from a conversion. And if it is because, while still thinking the same, she decided to avoid acts that would set her against religion, that also seems praiseworthy to me, even if the motive is not a change in her feelings but only the desire not to harm the monarchy with stupid displays that make no sense to perform.
I must also say that the reception for the Pontiff seemed to me excellent and most solemn. Surely Leo XIV will not have a similar event anywhere else.
