Gospel of the day October 17, 2026 – Luke 12, 8-12

First Reading

Reading from the letter of the Apostle Saint Paul to the Ephesians

Ephesians 1, 15-23

Brothers and sisters: I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of the love you show to all the brothers and sisters, and for this reason I never cease to give thanks for you, nor to remember you in my prayers, and I ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, to grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know him. I ask that he enlighten your minds so that you may understand what is the hope that your calling gives you, how glorious and rich is the inheritance that God gives to those who are his, and what is the extraordinary greatness of his power toward us who trust in him, through the efficacy of his mighty strength.

With this power he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in heaven, above all angels, principalities, powers, virtues, and dominions, and above every person, not only of the present world, but also of the future. He put everything under his feet and constituted him supreme head of the Church, which is his body, and the fullness of the one who fills all in all.

Gospel

Reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint Luke

Luke 12, 8-12

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “I assure you that everyone who openly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also openly acknowledge before the angels of God; but whoever denies me before others, I will deny before the angels of God.

Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

When they bring you before synagogues and before judges and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, because the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you ought to say.”
