Gospel of the day October 13, 2026 – Luke 11, 37-41

First Reading

Reading from the letter of the Apostle Saint Paul to the Galatians

Galatians 5, 1-6

Brothers and sisters: Christ has set us free so that we may be free. Therefore, maintain your freedom and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.

I, Paul, assure you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. And I declare once more that every person who allows themselves to be circumcised is obliged to fulfill the entire law. You who seek justification through the law have lost Christ and have rejected grace.

We, on the other hand, moved by the Holy Spirit, eagerly await justification through faith. For Christians, it makes no difference whether one is circumcised or not; the only thing that matters is faith, which works through love.

Gospel

Reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint Luke

Luke 11, 37-41

At that time, a Pharisee invited Jesus to dine. Jesus went to the Pharisee’s house and sat at the table. The Pharisee was surprised that Jesus had not performed the ceremony of washing his hands before eating.

But the Lord said to him: “You Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and the plate; yet the inside of you is full of robbery and wickedness. You fools! Did not the one who made the outside also make the inside? Rather, give alms from what you have, and everything about you will be clean.”
