Juan Pich-Aguilera, Vox representative in the Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD) of Valldoreix, has resigned from his position to enter the diocesan seminary of Terrassa next academic year, where he will begin his formation with a view to the priesthood.
The young man announced his decision during the last EMD session, in which he bid farewell to his colleagues before starting a new stage marked by vocational discernment and preparation for priestly ministry.
A calling that changes the course of his life
Pich-Aguilera explained that he faces this new path with joy and convinced that he has found his place.
«It has been a brief but enjoyable adventure, and I am happy to end it in the best possible way,» he stated during his farewell, according to the local media outlet Tot Sant Cugat.
The former Vox councilor also assured that he begins this new stage «very happy and excited» and summed up with a phrase the change his life will undergo in the coming years: «Until now my path was service to the people; from now on it will be an earthly service oriented toward an eternal service.»
His words reflect the decision to leave behind public activity to respond to a vocation that will now occupy the center of his life.
Farewell with expressions of affection
The news was received with respect by the various political representatives of Valldoreix, who took advantage of the session to bid him farewell and wish him success in the new stage he is about to begin.
Even representatives of parties ideologically distant from Vox publicly conveyed their best wishes for his future path toward the priesthood.
The political party to which he belonged also expressed its gratitude for the work carried out during his time as an EMD councilor and wished him luck in the new direction he has chosen to take.
A new vocation for the Diocese of Terrassa
Next academic year, Pich-Aguilera will begin his formation at the diocesan seminary of Terrassa, where he will start the process of spiritual discernment, academic formation, and pastoral preparation that precedes priestly ordination.
His decision represents hopeful news for the Church in Catalonia and for the Diocese of Terrassa, which will welcome a new candidate for the priesthood at a time when vocations remain one of the great challenges facing the Church in Spain.
