Gospel of the day June 13, 2026 – Luke 2, 41-51

First Reading

Reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah

(61, 9-11)

The descendants of the righteous will be renowned among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples.
All who see them will recognize that they are the offspring whom the Lord has blessed.
I rejoice in the Lord with all my soul and I am filled with joy in my God, because he has clothed me with
garments of salvation and covered me with a robe of righteousness, like a bridegroom who puts on a crown, like a bride who adorns herself with her jewels.
Just as the earth brings forth its shoots and the garden makes what is sown in it sprout, so the Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.

Gospel

Reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint Luke

Luke 2, 41-51

The parents of Jesus used to go every year to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. When the child was twelve years old, they went to the feast, according to custom. After those days, they returned; but the child Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, without his parents knowing. Thinking he was in the caravan, they traveled a day’s journey; then they looked for him, and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.

On the third day they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. When they saw him, his parents were astonished, and his mother said to him: “My son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” He answered them: “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” They did not understand the answer he gave them. Then he went back with them to Nazareth and remained subject to their authority. His mother kept all these things in her heart.
