Gospel of the day June 5, 2026 – Mark 12, 35-37

First Reading

Reading from the second letter of the Apostle Saint Paul to Timothy

2 Timothy 3, 10-17

Beloved brother: You have closely followed my teaching and my way of life, my plans, my faith, my patience, my brotherly love, my perseverance, my persecutions and sufferings, such as those I endured in Antioch, in Iconium, and in Lystra. What harsh persecutions I had to suffer! But from all of them the Lord delivered me.

All who wish to live as good Christians will also be persecuted. For their part, the wicked and perverse will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and deceiving themselves.

You, however, remain steadfast in what you have learned and have been entrusted with, for you well know from whom you learned it, and from childhood you have been familiar with the Sacred Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that, through faith in Christ Jesus, leads to salvation.

All Sacred Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproving, for correcting, and for training in virtue, so that the man of God may be perfect and fully prepared for every good work.

Gospel

Reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint Mark

Mark 12, 35-37

David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, declared: The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand, and I will make your enemies the footstool for your feet. If David himself calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”

The crowd that surrounded him, which was large, listened to him with delight.
