The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) has announced the launch of Traditio – For the Love of the Church, a new documentary series that presents the life and apostolate of its priests in various places around the world. The project, developed over two years, constitutes the most ambitious cinematographic production carried out to date by the congregation founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.
According to the General House of the FSSPX, the series seeks to show the Fraternity’s current activity at an international level and to bear witness to its attachment to the Catholic Church and the Successor of Peter. The production was carried out between June 2024 and May 2026 by two young students from Switzerland and Germany in collaboration with the congregation’s General House.
Three documentaries on priestly life
Traditio consists of three feature-length films totaling more than four hours. Each installment addresses a different aspect of the Fraternity’s life and mission, with the figure of the Catholic priest as the common thread.
The first part, titled A Work of Faith, will premiere on June 7 and is dedicated to the Catholic priesthood, the history of the Fraternity, and the formation provided in its international seminaries.
The second installment, A Work of Hope, scheduled for June 14, focuses on the missionary work carried out by the Fraternity in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.
The third and final part, A Work of Charity, will be released on June 21. It shows the liturgical life of the congregation during Holy Week and Eastertide, along with the pastoral work of its priests in Europe and America.
World premiere in Switzerland
The official presentation of the series took place on May 28 in the Swiss town of Frick, before nearly 170 guests. Among the attendees were the Superior General of the Fraternity, Father Davide Pagliarani, and the priest who held that position from 1983 to 1994, Father Franz Schmidberger.
Both priests addressed the audience during the premiere of a production that the Fraternity itself considers the most important audiovisual project in its history.
The Fraternity’s international presence
With this new documentary series, the Fraternity seeks to offer an overview of its pastoral and missionary activity, as well as to bring the public closer to the daily life of its priests and communities in various parts of the world.
The production will be released in three parts throughout the month of June and will be available through the Fraternity’s official channels.
