The Diocese of Zamora inaugurated this Sunday the new Perpetual Adoration Chapel “Queen of Peace,” a space dedicated to continuous prayer before the Blessed Sacrament that will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the year in the heart of the city.

According to the diocese itself, the new chapel is located at 18 Ramos Carrión Street, in the former premises of the diocesan bookstore, and was created with the aim of offering the faithful and visitors a permanent place of silence, recollection, and eucharistic adoration.

The official opening began with a Mass in the Church of St. Andrew presided over by the Bishop of Zamora, Fernando Valera, after which hundreds of the faithful accompanied the Blessed Sacrament in procession to the new chapel, where perpetual adoration was formally established.

The bishop describes the chapel as “the living heart” of the diocese

During the homily, delivered on the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, the bishop highlighted the spiritual significance of the new chapel and stated that it will be “the living heart of our Church in Zamora, a beacon lit day and night.”

Fernando Valera also emphasized that eucharistic adoration should not be seen as an escape from the world, but as a source of inner transformation and Christian commitment.

“The Perpetual Adoration we inaugurate today does not distance us from the world, but fills us with God’s gaze upon the world,” the bishop affirmed in his preaching.

The prelate also invited the faithful to work “for the common good, for justice, and for peace,” linking eucharistic prayer with daily life and Christian social commitment.

A chapel open permanently

The new chapel will remain open uninterruptedly thanks to the shifts organized by the registered adorers, although it will also be accessible to anyone who wishes to come freely to pray.

In addition, starting this Monday, May 18, the Eucharist will be celebrated daily at 08:00 a.m., from Monday to Sunday.

In his homily, the bishop described the new chapel as “a haven of peace open day and night for anyone seeking a moment of recollection and silence” and as “a beacon of continuous prayer” for the entire diocese.
