Gospel of the day April 14, 2026 – John 3:7-15

First Reading

Reading from the book of the Acts of the Apostles

Acts 4:32-37

The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; they had everything in common, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions.

With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and they were all held in high esteem by the people. No one among them was in need, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds, and place them at the feet of the apostles, who would then distribute to each according to their need.

Thus Joseph, a Levite born in Cyprus and called Barnabas by the apostles (which means «son of encouragement»), owned a field; he sold it and brought the money and placed it at the feet of the apostles.

Gospel

Reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint John

John 3:7-15

At that time, Jesus said to Nicodemus: «Do not be amazed that I told you, ‘You must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.» Nicodemus answered and said to him, «How can this happen?»

Jesus answered and said to him, «You are a teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand this? Amen, amen, I say to you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony. If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has gone up to heaven except him who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven. Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.»
