Reading from the prophecy of Daniel

Daniel 7, 9-10. 13-14

I, Daniel, had a night vision:
I saw thrones being set in place
and an Ancient One took his seat.
His robe was white as snow,
and his hair white as wool.
His throne was flames of fire,
with wheels of blazing fire.
A river of fire flowed out before him.
Thousands upon thousands served him,
and myriads upon myriads stood before him.
The court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.

I continued watching in my night vision
and saw one like a son of man
coming with the clouds of heaven.
He approached the Ancient One
and was presented before him.
He received dominion, glory, and kingship.
All peoples, nations, and languages
served him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
that shall not pass away,
and his kingship, one that shall never be destroyed.

Reading from the holy Gospel according to John

John 1, 47-51

At that time, when Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” Nathanael asked him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”
