Gospel of the day July 30, 2026 – Matthew 13, 47-53

First Reading

Reading from the book of Jeremiah

Jeremiah 18, 1-6

This is what the Lord said to me: “Jeremiah, go to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words”.

So I went to the potter’s house, and found him working at his wheel. Whenever the vessel he was making turned out badly, he would rework it into another vessel, as seemed good to him.

Then the Lord said to me: “Can I not do with you, O house of Israel, just as this potter has done? Just like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel”.

Gospel

Reading from the holy gospel according to Saint Matthew

Matthew 13, 47-53

At that time, Jesus said to the crowd: “The Kingdom of heaven is also like a net that fishermen cast into the sea and gather fish of every kind. When the net is full, the fishermen haul it ashore and sit down to sort the catch; they put the good fish into baskets and throw away the bad. So it will be at the end of the age: the angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Have you understood all this?” They answered, “Yes.” Then he said to them: “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the Kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old”.

When Jesus had finished these parables, he left that place.
