Registrations open for the XVII Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Christendom in Argentina

The organization of Our Lady of Christendom has opened registration for the XVII pilgrimage to Luján, one of the main expressions of traditional piety in Argentina and throughout Hispanic America. The next edition will be held under the motto “Behold your mother” (Jn 19, 27), inviting the faithful to set out toward the patroness of Argentina in a spirit of prayer, sacrifice, and trust in the intercession of the Virgin Mary.

According to the organization in its official announcement, pilgrims are called to walk this path “with hearts full of hope,” offering every effort as an act of trust in Christ and in the maternal protection of Our Lady.

The pilgrimage of Our Lady of Christendom to Luján has become established in recent years as one of the most important initiatives of traditional Catholicism in Hispanic America. Inspired by the renowned Paris-to-Chartres pilgrimage, it brings together hundreds of faithful each year who walk on foot more than one hundred kilometers to the Basilica of Our Lady of Luján, combining physical effort with sacramental life, prayer, and doctrinal formation.

A pilgrimage that continues to grow

Founded in 2010, the pilgrimage has experienced steady growth and has become a point of reference for many young people, families, and priests connected to the Church’s traditional liturgy.

The Argentine pilgrimage is also part of an international movement that has seen similar initiatives flourish, inspired by the historic Chartres march, in Spain, Italy, and most recently England as well.

“Behold your mother”

The motto chosen for this seventeenth edition refers to the words spoken by Christ from the Cross when He entrusted the Virgin Mary to the beloved disciple.

The organizers explain that the 2026 pilgrimage will seek to deepen the spiritual motherhood of Mary and her role in the history of salvation. From the Incarnation to her presence at the foot of the Cross, the Virgin will be presented as a guide and consolation for the pilgrims during the days of the journey.

“Every effort, every difficulty, and every sacrifice will be an opportunity to draw closer to her maternal heart,” states the message issued by Our Lady of Christendom.

The announcement also recalls that the goal of the march is not merely to complete a long walk, but to live an experience of conversion, penance, and spiritual renewal that culminates before the image of Our Lady of Luján.

Sacrifice, liturgy, and Christian life

Unlike other popular pilgrimages, Our Lady of Christendom is distinguished by a strong spiritual and liturgical emphasis. During the journey, pilgrims participate daily in the traditional Holy Mass, the recitation of the Rosary, Eucharistic adoration, and various formation activities.

The pilgrimage thus emerges as a concrete response to the challenges facing the Church in the contemporary world, promoting an integral experience of the Catholic faith centered on sacramental life, doctrine, and Marian devotion.

Over the years, the march has also contributed to the birth of friendships, priestly and religious vocations, as well as to the strengthening and growth in faith of numerous Catholic families.

Registration open

The organization has already opened the registration period for the XVII edition of the pilgrimage. Participants may register individually, as a family, or by joining the various chapters organized from different Argentine cities.
