Thousands of people demonstrated this Sunday in central Madrid, convened by the Sí a la Vida Platform, to demand the repeal of abortion and euthanasia laws and to denounce attempts to entrench these practices in Spanish legislation. The mobilization brought together representatives from more than 500 associations and concluded with a tribute to the victims of the culture of death and a remembrance of the unborn children.
The march began shortly after noon on Serrano Street and proceeded through the city center to Paseo de la Castellana. Participants carried green flags and balloons, the symbol of the pro-life movement, along with banners bearing messages such as “The right to life is for everyone,” “Live life,” or “Maternal priority.”
“Repeal the anti-life laws”
During the reading of the manifesto, the organizers called for the repeal of the laws regulating abortion and euthanasia in Spain and expressed their rejection of any initiative aimed at strengthening or entrenching these regulations. The platform denounced that policies are being promoted which present as rights practices that, in their view, amount to the deliberate elimination of innocent human lives.
The spokespeople also warned that both in Spain and in various European institutions, a vision of society is being promoted that relativizes the value of human life, especially in its most vulnerable stages. In response, they advocated for the recognition of the dignity of every person from conception until natural death.
The event seeks to support the many individuals and associations who work daily in favor of human life, as well as to express the rejection by part of society of the current legislation on abortion and euthanasia.
Tribute to the unborn
The demonstration concluded with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the culture of death. This was followed by the traditional balloon release organized by the Sí a la Vida Platform in remembrance of the unborn children.
