The 575th anniversary of Isabella the Catholic will be celebrated with a Mass presided over by the nuncio

The Ávila locality of Madrigal de las Altas Torres will host on April 22 a solemn Mass on the occasion of the 575th anniversary of the birth of the Servant of God Isabel la Católica. The celebration will take place in the church of San Nicolás de Bari —the temple where the queen was baptized— and will be presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Monsignor Piero Pioppo, in an act of special ecclesial relevance.

The initiative is framed within the events organized for the anniversary of the queen’s birth, a historical figure closely linked to the Catholic faith. The Mass will be the central act of a day that emphasizes her spiritual dimension.

Context of the Beatification Cause

The celebration takes place at a time when the beatification cause of Isabel la Católica continues its course, initiated in 1958 and subsequently developed in Rome.

In an interview granted to Infocatólica, the director of the Cause Commission, priest José Luis Rubio Willen, has highlighted the relevance of these acts in the context of the process, emphasizing that during the years in which canonization causes are processed “very good things happen” and the spiritual life of the faithful is strengthened, recalling that these processes have as their ultimate purpose “the greater glory of God”.

A Figure Rooted in the Catholic Tradition

In addition to the main Mass, it is planned that in various points in Spain other Eucharists will be celebrated in honor of the queen, reflecting the devotion that she continues to arouse among numerous faithful.

Isabel la Católica is a reference figure both in the historical and spiritual spheres, and her beatification cause is inscribed in a prolonged process that continues to advance within the channels established by the Church.
