The proper thing would be to use a foul word that I’ve already dedicated to some other colleague, but I’ll restrain myself. I think this one is not a bad person. His problem is an absolute mitral and neuronal insufficiency. They assigned him the most comfortable and least conflictive diocese in Spain: the military one. Where even the dumbest would be able to perform it acceptably. Until today he had been fulfilling it without brilliance but decently, but the request for a funeral for Antonio Tejero overwhelmed and scared him. Without thinking that his faithful, the military, consider cowardice as the most disqualifying thing in one of their own and even in others. Well, now they have a coward as their archbishop.
Maybe that fool believes that a funeral is a homage to the deceased and his acts. When what it is, although he ignores it, is to ask God for mercy for his sins and weaknesses.
Did he think, without the slightest rational or ecclesiastical motive, that the priest son of the lieutenant colonel, or some other, were going to cause a scandal with the funeral, since he authorizes the celebration performed by one of the cathedral’s priests. I fear, or hope, that that indignity accompanies him until the end of his days.
