Resignation and Appointment of the Bishop of Florida (Uruguay)
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral government of the Diocese of Florida (Uruguay), presented by His Excellency Monsignor Martín Pablo Pérez Scremini.
The Holy Father has appointed as Bishop of Florida (Uruguay) the Rev. Fr. Alfonso María Bauer Ormazábal, S.D.B., until now Master of Novices of the Salesian Novitiate of Montevideo.
Curriculum vitae
His Excellency Monsignor Alfonso María Bauer Ormazábal, S.D.B., was born in Montevideo on July 23, 1968. He attended the course for formators at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome and the School for Formators Maria, Mother of the Consecrated in Córdoba (Argentina). He obtained the License in Spiritual Theology, with specialization in the formation of formators and in vocational animation, at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome.
He was ordained a priest on November 16, 1996.
He has held the following positions: In charge of pastoral care and Director of the Paiva Institution (1997-2002) and in the Formation House (2003-2008) in the Diocese of Florida; Director of the Community (2011-2017), Director of the Institute (2011-2013), in charge of aspirants and pre-novices (2013-2017) and Parish Priest (2017) at the community of Villa Colón of the Pío College; Delegate for Youth and Vocational Pastoral Care (2004-2006); Delegate for Vocational Pastoral Care (2006-2008); Delegate for Formation (2008); Inspection Vicar (2012-2017) and Inspection Counselor (2003-2008 and 2012-2017); Inspector (2018-2024); Vice President (2018) and President (2022) of the Board of Religious of Uruguay; Vicar for Consecrated Life of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Montevideo (from 2023).
