An Italian bishop who seems excellent

Mons. Antonio Suetta

The one from Ventimiglia-San Remo,  Antonio Suetta (1962-   )

A BISHOP AND A BELL
From the blog «Pro vita & famiglia” we learned of what happened to
one of the best Italian bishops, Antonio Suetta, on the occasion of
having given the names of the abortion victims to a bell.
Every day at 8 p.m. the bell’s toll for life
reminds us of so many murdered children. During the year 2025 with 75
million victims it was the leading cause of death in the world.
As the blog points out, “it is not a judgment or condemnation, but a sign
of human and Christian piety for a tragedy”. But the bishop of Ventimiglia-San Remo’s idea was enough
for attacks from the enemies of life, freedom, and God to rain down on him. And there the progressive media joined in,
Democratic Party leaders, social centers and transfeminist circles, left-wing student centers and even the Liguriacounselor for
equal opportunities, who wrote to Pope Leo XIV to complain.  The complainers could not accept thatMonsignor Suetta not only remembers that
life is precious, but that  it is sacred, as a gift from God. To this must be added the insults and personal threats that the bishop has received, paying
very dearly for his courage in raising his head against the regime of the “politically correct”-
A while ago we wrote a laudatory note about bells and their immutable role in the Christian tradition. And in it we recalled
the words of Cardinal Luis Eduardo Pie: “Heresy does not want bells. Ask Luther and Calvin. It does not want them because the bell
remains orthodox, because its voice does not change to lend itself to the dissonance of doctrine or to alterations of dogma. The bell is not apostate”.
And since we are with the unforgettable bishop of Poitiers, here are some special words of his for our days for the Argentine Catholics, including
our bishops: “If you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never acclaim it. Never say to evil you are the good; to decadence you are progress;
to the night you are the light; to death, you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the time in which God has
placed you, weep for the evils and disorders that God toleratesoppose to them the energy of your good works and your efforts, keep your entire life
pure of errors” (quoted in the book by Father Alfredo Sáenz, “THE CARDINAL PIE, Lucidity and Courage in the Service of Truth”, (Nihuil-Gladius, 1987, p.63).
These words are embodied today by Bishop Suetta to whom we pay our homage; regarding the residential bishopsArgentines, today we have had
good news: the current nuncio has passed to occupy the nunciature in Albania, a clear degradation that shows, a clear punishment from the Vatican, which must
take into account the appointments of bishops, whose leadership is headed by the archbishop of Mendoza, whose nickname is “La Chancha”, who embodies an
episcopal “lipidocracy”, to which the cardinal archbishop of Córdoba Cardinal Ángel Sixto Rossi collaborates, exponents of a most correct episcopate.
The first, Marcelo Colombo, supported at the beginning of last year, the march of the LGTBIQ+ community (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, intersexuals
and queer); the second, who expelled from his archdiocese the Legion of Christ the King, a public association of the faithful united to the Institute Christ the King, with active and
fruitful presence in various places in the country, in the name of the mysterious synodality. Perhaps
the archbishop of Córdoba is bothered by the preaching of the Kingship of Christ and the problems and questions it may raise; there is an abyss between both and
the great Italian bishop.
In the doctrinal chaos in which we live, we must choose. Against Colombo we side with Saint Paul, who taught us in the Epistle to the Romans: “They exchanged
the truth of God for thelie and worshiped the creature rather than the Creator…for this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions, for even their women exchanged the
natural use for that which is against nature. And likewise the men… gave themselves to lust, committing shameful deeds men with men… and not
only do they do them, but they also approve of those who practice them” (Chapter I); as Colombo does.
Against Rossi, we side with Pius XI and his encyclical Quas Primas, which established even the feast of Christ the King, celebratedin a special way by those expelled from
Córdoba.
