The Vondel church (Vondelkerk) is an old Catholic temple in Amsterdam (Netherlands) built in 1880 in the neo-Gothic style. For almost a century, it was the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of the Catholic Diocese of Haarlem-Amsterdam. In 1977, due to the decline in Mass attendance in the post-conciliar crisis (particularly severe in the Netherlands), and after structural reasons were alleged, the church was desacralized and subsequently restored, and today it is municipal property.
In the early morning of January 1, 2026, it was partially destroyed by a fire, which you can see in the video below the text.
