The personal secretary of Pope Leo XIV, Mons. Edgar Rimaycuna Inga, has visited Madrid and met with Cardinal José Cobo during an academic event at the San Dámaso Ecclesiastical University, as reported by the institution itself.
The presence of the Pope’s secretary is framed within a prominent academic week at San Dámaso University, during which several doctoral theses in philosophy have been defended.
Meeting with Cobo in Madrid
During his visit, Mons. Rimaycuna was greeted by the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal José Cobo, in a meeting that also included the rector of San Dámaso University, Nicolás Álvarez de las Asturias, and the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy.
According to the University, the meeting allowed for an exchange of impressions on philosophical training, the role of ecclesiastical institutions, and the dialogue between faith and reason, in a context marked by current cultural challenges.
A Man of the Pope’s Utmost Confidence
The visit gains special relevance due to the profile of Mons. Rimaycuna, personal secretary of Leo XIV and one of his closest collaborators.
The event was also linked to the defense of the thesis of the Peruvian priest Jasson Merary Sempertigue, who worked closely with the Pope during his time as bishop of Chiclayo and was ordained by him.
