The Vatican has confirmed on February 25 the upcoming apostolic journeys of Pope Leo XIV, which will include Spain, the Principality of Monaco, and four African countries, as announced by the director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, through the Official Bulletin.
The visits respond to formal invitations from the respective heads of state and the ecclesiastical authorities of each country. The detailed programs for each trip will be announced later.
Spain, a week-long visit in June
The trip to Spain will take place from June 6 to 12, 2026. The Holy See has specified that the Pontiff has accepted the invitation from the head of state and the Spanish ecclesiastical authorities.
The duration—seven days—positions Spain as one of the main destinations in the Pope’s international agenda in the first semester of the year. For now, the cities and planned events have not been announced.
Monaco, first stop in March
Before the trip to Spain, Leo XIV will travel to the Principality of Monaco on March 28, responding to the invitation from the head of state and the archbishop of the Principality.
This is a visit to the City-State whose official program will be published shortly.
