Two new miracles attributed to the intercession of Saint Charbel

Since the beginning of 2026, two new miracles attributed to the intercession of Saint Charbel Makhlouf have been recorded, one in the United States and another in Lebanon, both related to complete healings that, according to doctors, have no scientific explanation.

The cases have been disseminated by EWTN and add to the more than 30,000 miracles attributed to the Lebanese Maronite priest and monk, venerated by the faithful as the “doctor of heaven,” whose devotion continues to grow in various countries and cultural contexts.

A medical process without a solution and an unexpected healing in the United States

The first of the cases corresponds to Georgianne Walker, a lawyer born in 1975 in South Bend, Indiana. In December 2024, she underwent abdominal surgery that led to a serious infection in the lower abdomen. The complication caused her intense pain, persistent anxiety, and the need to receive antibiotics for six weeks.

Although the most acute symptoms subsided, the surgical wound did not heal. For nearly ten months, it remained open, inflamed, and with continuous bleeding, forcing Walker to change the dressings daily. Despite constant medical follow-up, no significant improvement occurred.

Faced with the negative evolution, the specialists concluded that a second surgical intervention was necessary to remove the inflamed tissue, and the operation was scheduled. However, in September 2025, Walker received a visit from a Lebanese friend, George Issa, who years earlier had attributed his own healing to the intercession of Saint Charbel.

Issa brought her a small vial of blessed oil linked to the saint and encouraged her to pray asking for his intercession. The use of this oil is part of a traditional practice in the Eastern Churches and continues to be performed in the Monastery of Saint Maron, in Annaya.

According to Walker’s testimony, after praying and applying the oil to the wound, it healed completely. The recovery was total, and the scheduled surgery was canceled. The healing was officially recorded on January 17, 2026.

A tumor that disappeared without surgical intervention in Lebanon

The second case occurred in Lebanon and affects Racha Charbel, born in 1987 in Jezzine. On October 1, 2025, she was hospitalized after suffering severe back pain. An MRI revealed the presence of a meningioma in the spine.

The tumor did not respond to pharmacological treatment and posed a risk to the nerves and blood vessels, so the only option was surgery. A new MRI was scheduled three months later, with a provisional hospital admission date of January 7, 2026.

The night before the test, Racha reported that she prayed before an image of Saint Charbel placed on her bed. The next day, the MRI showed an unexpected result: the tumor had disappeared completely.

According to her doctor, there was no clinical explanation for the spontaneous disappearance of the meningioma without surgical intervention. On January 17, Racha went to the Monastery of Saint Maron, in Annaya, to officially record the healing and present the medical reports.

A devotion that extends beyond borders and religions

Saint Charbel Makhlouf was a priest and hermit monk of the Maronite rite. He died on December 24, 1898, and was beatified by Saint Paul VI in 1965 and canonized in 1977.

In December 2025, Pope Leo XIV became the first pontiff to visit the tomb of Saint Charbel during an apostolic trip to Lebanon. On that occasion, he described his intercession as “a river of mercy,” in reference to the monthly pilgrimage that continues to gather thousands of faithful in Annaya.
