Spain has been the second nation in the world in number of pilgrims during the 2025 Jubilee, only behind United States and ahead of Italy, according to the Memoria prepared by the secretariat of the Commission for the 2025 Jubilee of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE). The document attributes this data to the commitment of the dioceses and interprets it as a reflection of the Christian vitality of the Church in Spain.
The information is framed in the balance of the jubilee year, which has included sectoral jubilees and diocesan pilgrimages to Rome, passing through the Holy Door and a spiritual itinerary marked by the specific requirements of the Jubilee. The CEE emphasizes that Spanish participation has also been recognized from the Holy See: the Dicastery for Evangelization has publicly congratulated the Church in Spain for its presence in the pilgrimages and celebrations.
According to the CEE, various dioceses and groups of pilgrims also made economic contributions destined for ecclesial institutions that care for victims of trafficking, and even some dioceses promoted specific services related to this issue within the framework of the Jubilee.
In parallel, the Episcopal Conference indicates that the Jubilee was accompanied by pastoral and training resources—such as guides and preparation materials—disseminated through specific spaces on its digital platforms, as support for the dioceses and the faithful to live the Holy Year with spiritual meaning.
