The Diocese of Córdoba sets up a team of priests to attend to the victims of the Adamuz train accident

The Diocese of Córdoba has set up a team of priests to attend to the victims and families of the railway accident that occurred in the municipality of Adamuz, making available to those who need it a service of spiritual accompaniment and listening.

Since the tragedy became known, the Church of Córdoba has remained “at the disposal of the victims and the authorities” to offer its help in the needs that have arisen. At Infovaticana, we already pointed out the importance that, in the face of such a blow, the ecclesial response not remain in words, but translate into real presence, prayer, and consolation where the families are. Therefore, it is good news that this availability is now concretized in a stable service of spiritual care at the support point.

In the capital, since this Tuesday, priests Leopoldo Rivero, Francisco J. Granados, and Manuel Sánchez have gone to the Centro Cívico de Poniente Sur, designated as a support point for the families. There they will remain in a room set up to receive “with privacy” the people who require attention. “The Church places itself at the service of the spiritual care so necessary at this moment,” states Leopoldo.

The diocese also explains that the accompaniment will be carried out in coordination with the psychological team: “With the attention of the psychologists, they will refer to the priests the families who need it so that they can be with them, accompany them, and pray so that they feel the warmth, closeness, and consolation,” emphasizes Leopoldo Rivero.
