The Holy See has published the telegram of condolences sent by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, on behalf of Pope Leo XIV, to Monsignor Luis Javier Argüello García, Archbishop of Valladolid and President of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, following the Adamuz (Córdoba) train accident.

The Pope states that he is “deeply grieved” upon learning of the disaster, which “has caused numerous victims and injuries,” and communicates that he offers “suffrages for the eternal rest of the deceased.”
Likewise, His Holiness extends his “heartfelt condolences” to the families of the deceased, along with “expressions of comfort” and wishes for “a speedy recovery” for the injured. The telegram also includes a message of encouragement to the rescue teams to persevere in the relief and assistance tasks.
Finally, the Pope imparts “the comforting apostolic blessing” to all, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Pillar, as a sign of hope in the Risen Lord.
