Leo XIV meets with the superior general of the FSSP, John Berg

Pope Leo XIV received Father John Berg, superior general of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP), this Monday. The information published in the Holy See Bulletin indicates that the meeting took place today amid the daily audiences, but up to now, no official details have emerged about the content of the meeting.

In February 2024, Pope Francis met with FSSP officials and reaffirmed their charism of offering the Mass in Latin, as well as the start of an apostolic visitation to the fraternity in September 2024, the first since 2014. For its part, the FSSP announced in 2024 the election of Father John Berg as superior general for a six-year term, following the decision of the General Chapter.

In the same list of audiences also appear, among others, Cardinal Mario Grech (general secretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod), an ecumenical delegation from Finland, the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and officials of the Neocatechumenal Way.
