During the current pastoral course, the Conciliar Seminary of Madrid has included in its training program several sessions taught by the CRISMHOM association, known for defending the postulates of LGTBI anthropology.
According to sources familiar with the internal development of the course, as learned by InfoVaticana, this association would have been taken as a training reference for the seminarians of the Madrid diocese in the pastoral field, with several sessions taught throughout the autumn.
Lectures at the seminary
Specifically, on November 7, November 14, and December 5, 2025, a twelve-hour course was taught aimed at seminarians in the pastoral area. The sessions were led by Jesús Sastre García, a priest of the Madrid diocese and presented as the “spiritual director” of the CRISMHOM association.
The contact provided for this activity was the email address acompanantes@crismhom.org, the institutional address of the aforementioned association.
Topics covered
According to the testimonies gathered, in the session on November 14, the explicit approaches of the CRISMHOM association were presented, as well as references to liberation theology as the preferred pastoral framework. The sources indicate that the contents addressed issues related to pastoral accompaniment from anthropological and psychological categories defended by the association.
After those sessions, several deacons expressed their complaints to the seminary rector, Antonio Secilla, showing their disagreement with the orientation of the training received. According to the same sources, the rector corrected the deacons and scheduled a subsequent meeting to address the matter, with no further developments.
Profile of the speaker
Jesús Sastre García is a priest of the Madrid diocese, with a doctorate in Theology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, and a master’s degree in Human Sexuality, Social Doctrine of the Church, and Bioethics.
He is a founding member of the Spanish Association of Catechists (AECA), of which he was vice president between 1998 and 2007, and has been part of the editorial team of the magazine Sinite. In his written production is the article “Accompaniment of young people (with special attention to LGTBI youth)”, signed with his institutional email from CRISMHOM, in which he subtly defends sodomy as a way to manifest human love.
Diocesan context
These training activities have taken place under the episcopate of Cardinal José Cobo, Archbishop of Madrid, who is ultimately responsible for the pastoral and training orientation of the diocesan seminary.
The use of materials, speakers, and approaches linked to specific associations within the seminary’s official program has raised concerns among part of the clergy and seminarians, who question the doctrinal and pastoral suitability of such training.
InfoVaticana will continue to report on the development of this matter and on the training criteria being applied in the preparation of the future priests of the Madrid diocese.
