The Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV) disseminated on January 3, 2026, a message on its social networks addressed to the People of God, in which it exhorts to live with serenity, wisdom, and strength the events that the country is going through, as well as to persevere in prayer for national unity.
In the brief statement, the bishops express their closeness and solidarity with the people who have been injured and with the families of those who have died in the context of the recent events. In this sense, they ask God to grant the Venezuelan people the grace to face the situation with inner peace and spiritual strength.
The CEV also makes an explicit call to intensify Christian hope and fervent prayer for peace, both in hearts and in society, emphasizing the need to reject any form of violence. According to the message, the hands of Venezuelans must open to encounter and mutual help, as a path to overcome the crisis.
Likewise, the bishops point out that the decisions adopted in the public sphere must always be oriented towards the well-being of the people, appealing to the moral responsibility of those who have decision-making capacity in the country.
The message concludes with an invocation to the intercession of the Virgin Mary, under the invocation of Our Lady of Coromoto, so that she accompanies the Venezuelan people in their journey.
