United States: Msgr. Reed celebrates a traditional Mass with the youth of Ohio

The auxiliary bishop of Boston, Monsignor Robert P. Reed, celebrates today, January 2, a Solemn Pontifical Mass according to the traditional Roman rite in the framework of the SEEK Conference 2026, one of the most relevant Catholic youth gatherings in the United States.

The celebration takes place at 2:15 p.m. in the church of St. Patrick, located in Columbus, Ohio, and features the liturgical assistance of the clergy of the Fraternidad Sacerdotal de San Pedro (FSSP), an institute dedicated to the celebration of traditional liturgy in full communion with the Church.

The SEEK Conference, organized annually by the organization FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), brings together tens of thousands of university students, religious, and priests for days of formation, prayer, and evangelization. The inclusion of a traditional Solemn Pontifical Mass in its program represents a significant fact within the current ecclesial landscape.

In a context marked by restrictions and tensions regarding the use of the traditional Roman rite, the celebration presided over today by a bishop in full communion with Rome and assisted by the FSSP once again demonstrates that this liturgical form continues to be a living source of vocations, conversion, and youth commitment. As Peter Kwasniewski aptly mentions: «the future of the Church cannot ignore or marginalize this treasure of the faith«.
