Pope Leo XIV arranged the sending of humanitarian aid to Ukraine on the occasion of the celebration of Holy Family Day, as reported by the Argentine media outlet Perfil. The initiative was carried out through the transport of three trucks with food intended to assist families displaced by recent bombings in various areas of the country.
The action took place in a context marked by the intensification of the conflict and the increase in the number of people forced to abandon their homes due to the attacks.
Sending coordinated by the Apostolic Almonry
The assistance was coordinated by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, responsible for the Apostolic Almonry, who confirmed that the trucks organized by the Vatican effectively reached their destination in Ukrainian territory.
The shipment included easy-to-prepare dehydrated foods, designed to be consumed in precarious conditions. According to reports, these products allow for hot meals to be obtained simply by adding water, which is especially useful for people living in temporary shelters or in emergency situations.
A direct decision by the Pontiff
According to statements gathered by Perfil, Cardinal Krajewski stated that the sending responded to a direct decision by the Pope and aimed to provide immediate relief to families going through situations of forced displacement.
In that context, the cardinal highlighted the symbolic nature of the chosen date for the delivery, in reference to the Holy Family and the realities of uprooting and seeking protection that many families affected by the war are experiencing.
