Sheinbaum invites León XIV to Mexico

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, held on December 12, the solemnity of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a telephone conversation with Pope Leo XIV, whom she formally invited to visit the country. The dialogue took place on a date with strong religious and cultural significance for Mexico and was announced by the president herself through her social media.

In her public message, Sheinbaum stated that during the call they agreed that, “beyond the religion professed by each person and the secularity of the State, the Virgin of Guadalupe is a symbol of identity and peace for Mexicans”.

According to the statement released by the head of the Executive, the Pope sent blessings and greetings to all Mexicans on the occasion of the Guadalupan feast. The gesture occurred while Leo XIV presided over the liturgical acts in Rome on the occasion of the Marian solemnity.
