During the presentation of the document Una Caro, dedicated to the defense of marriage and monogamy, the secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Mons. Armando Matteo, made statements that mark a moment of transition for the doctrinal body of the Holy See.
As he explained, the next two documents that the Dicastery will publish will definitively close the doctrinal mandate that had been entrusted by Pope Francis two years ago, before his death. With them, the stage opened under the previous pontificate will be concluded.
“The Dicastery expects to meet with Pope Leo in January”
In his words, Mons. Matteo emphasized that the Dicastery is in an institutional waiting phase. After completing the inherited tasks, the Doctrine of the Faith will await direct guidance from the new Pontiff:
“The Dicastery expects to meet with Pope Leo in January and receive instructions for the next documents.”
With this statement, Matteo made it clear that the future doctrinal line will depend on the guidelines set by the new Pope, which implies the formal closure of the previous stage and the beginning of a new cycle under the pontificate of Leo XIV.
