Laura Pausini’s recent visit to the Vatican, where she was received by Pope Leo XIV, left several particularly significant moments. The renowned Italian artist, an international reference and very beloved in the entire Spanish-speaking world, presented the Holy Father with a musical piece prepared expressly for the occasion, in a meeting marked by cordiality and mutual attention.
During the audience, the Pope mentioned that on his team he had “one of the biggest admirers of Pausini in Latin America.” He was referring to Edgar Rimaycuna, the man from Chiclayo who has served as his personal secretary since he was a bishop, whose fondness for the artist is no secret: his public social media from years ago already clearly showed that admiration when he was still a seminarian.
At that time, Edgar shared photographs of attending Pausini concerts, describing the experience as “a dream come true.” He even posed for photos with the singer’s father, and there were no shortage of posts where he appeared wearing a t-shirt with the artist’s image, of whom he declares himself an ardent follower.

The coincidence that Pausini visited the Vatican surely had a very special meaning for Edgar. With discretion and respect for the institutional nature of the event, the Pope himself could not help but point out to the singer that his secretary is a big fan of hers.
Pausini, author of emblematic hits like “La soledad (La solitudine)”, “Se fue”, “Víveme” and “En cambio no (Invece no)”, embodies for Edgar not only a musical figure, but an artist whose work has been companionship and reference in different stages of his life.
