Seven new saints elevated to the altars this Sunday

The Catholic Church will celebrate this Sunday, October 19, a new canonization ceremony in St. Peter's Square. Pope León XIV will raise to the altars seven blesseds who, with their lives and witness, reflected Christ in an exemplary manner in the midst of their communities and their time.

The canonization rite, which will take place during the solemn Holy Mass, will gather tens of thousands of faithful and pilgrims from all over the world. A strong presence is expected from official delegations from the countries of origin of the new saints, as well as from religious families and communities linked to them.

Seven new models of holiness

The new saints come from very diverse contexts: from an Armenian archbishop martyr of the faith to an Italian foundress, passing through catechists, doctors, and religious women who gave their lives in fidelity to Christ. Their stories highlight that holiness is not a privilege of a few, but a universal call that is realized in everyday fidelity, love for the poor, defense of life, and total surrender to God.

With this canonization, the Church officially recognizes the holiness of these figures and proposes them as models and intercessors for the faithful of the whole world.
