This weekend, the parroquia San Josemaría Escrivá de Alcorcón became a true temple of life and hope. There, 17 children saved from abortion received the sacrament of Baptism from the hands of the Bishop of Getafe, Mons. Ginés García Beltrán, in a ceremony that brought together families, volunteers, and the faithful in a celebration full of faith.
The news was covered by Religión en Libertad, which recalled that these baptisms are not an isolated event: they have been taking place for 14 years, thanks to the tireless work of the association Más Futuro and the Rescatadores Juan Pablo II, who accompany pregnant women in difficult situations, often right at the doors of abortion clinics. Over this time, more than 300 children rescued from abortion have received Baptism.
“A culture that defends life is called to live”
In his homily, Mons. Ginés emphasized before a packed church that life is a gift from God that points beyond earthly existence:
Today through Baptism, your children will not only have the life that you have given them, but the inheritance of Eternal Life. In other words, life is something very serious.
The bishop recalled that a culture that defends death is condemned to die, while a culture that defends life is called to endure. “We are made not for death, but for life,” he proclaimed.
Life as a gift and a mystery
Moved by the sight of the newborns, Mons. Ginés confessed that he is always surprised by the “miracle of life”:
Who can do this? Only God can do this. Therefore, I am not the owner of life, but God is the owner of life.
He added that the greatest gift the Lord has entrusted to man is the ability to collaborate with Him in the work of creation: “To be creators with God.”
Feast on earth and in heaven
Addressing the parents and mothers, the bishop reminded them that their children are called to an endless life:
Your children are made for heaven. That is why today the Church is dressed in feast. And today heaven, I dare to say, is dressed in feast, because today it has 17 new heirs who have heaven as their goal.
The Gospel is never imprisoned
Thanking the pro-life associations for their work, Mons. Ginés denounced the pressures that seek to silence the voice of the Church:
Many times, there are those who want to bind, put handcuffs on, and take the faith of the Church to prison… but the Gospel is never captive.
Finally, he invited them to pray to the Virgin so that perseverance in the defense of life and in the Christian education of children may not be lacking. The ceremony culminated with a large family photo together with the 17 families and the newly baptized.
