Feijóo settles the doubts and declares that the PP commits to the ‘right’ to feticide

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has published a letter in which he clears any ambiguity about his position on abortion and makes it clear that his party will keep the “right” to interrupt pregnancy intact, committing to guarantee it with the best medical and psychological means.

Below is the full text disseminated by the PP:

Going back 50 years is about scaring people with hoaxes about false abortion bans and doing nothing for the thousands of women who today want to have a child and cannot, among other things because a corrupt Government has spent the money on prostitution instead of helping young people prosper and build a family.

Pedro Sánchez is politically and morally exhausted. Cornered by corruption and his lack of direction, he resorts to desperate maneuvers to survive a few more months. As peace in Gaza looms on the horizon, he needs something else. Today he tries to reopen debates from the past to hide the problems of the present. It neither impresses nor conditions me. Spain needs solutions, not distractions.

My commitment is to govern from serenity, transparency, and truth. Spaniards deserve a government that does not divide to endure, but unites to advance. I will not use overcome causes or moral flags to confront society. My purpose is to resolve the real problems of families and guarantee them a better future.

On abortion, my position is clear and well-known. I will always ensure that any woman who opts for the interruption of her pregnancy can do so with the best medical and psychological care, in accordance with the laws. What is at risk is that families can have the children they desire, because the Government does not offer them the conditions to do so.

The real debate that Spain needs is about birth rates, reconciliation, and the future. If we want a country with opportunities, we must support those who want to form a family. I will promote measures so that no woman renounces motherhood for economic, work, or housing reasons. Politics must be at the service of the real freedom to choose when and how to have children.

Sánchez does not defend women: he uses them. He turns them into his last political lifeline, and that is immoral. While he clings to conflicts, I propose stability, respect, and a future. Against division and manipulation, I offer a project to unite and advance Spain.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo

The letter, officially disseminated by the Popular Party, represents an ideological closing of ranks around the current abortion legislation. Feijóo makes it clear that he does not intend to touch a single comma of the laws that allow the elimination of the life of the unborn, explicitly distancing himself from any defense of the right to life from conception and adopting the language of “voluntary interruption of pregnancy” as a right guaranteed by the State.
