Leo XIV appoints new consultants to the Commission for Religious Relations with Judaism

The Vatican has announced on September 30 the appointment of four new consultants to the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, a body that depends on the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.

The Holy Father has appointed:

  • Mons. Bernard Longley, archbishop of Birmingham (Great Britain).
  • Mons. Eduardo Eliseo Martín, archbishop of Rosario (Argentina).
  • Mons. Rafic Nahra, auxiliary bishop and patriarchal vicar of Jerusalem of the Latins.
  • Dr. Natascia Danieli, director of the Linguistic Area Library of Ca’ Foscari University in Venice (Italy).

The Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, established within the framework of the Second Vatican Council, is dedicated to promoting dialogue and cooperation between the Catholic Church and the international Jewish community. It is part of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, whose mission is to foster ecumenical relations and interreligious dialogue.
