Pope Leo XIV will canonize seven new blesseds on October 19

The Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff has officially announced that on the upcoming October 19, 2025, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Mass for the canonization of seven blesseds in the sagrato of St. Peter’s Basilica.

On that day, they will be raised to the altars:

  • Ignacio Maloyan, Armenian martyr archbishop, murdered during the 1915 genocide.
  • Peter To Rot, lay catechist from Papua New Guinea, martyred in 1945 for his defense of the faith and the indissolubility of marriage.
  • Vincenza Maria Poloni, Italian religious, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy.
  • María Carmen Rendiles Martínez, Venezuelan founder of the Servants of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament.
  • Maria Troncatti, Italian Salesian missionary, who gave her life in service to the Shuar in Ecuador.
  • José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, Venezuelan doctor known as “the doctor of the poor”.
  • Bartolo Longo, Italian layman, convert, promoter of the Rosary and founder of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii.
