The Ertzaintza is keeping an open investigation into the private camp held in August in the Alavese municipality of Bernedo, following complaints from several families who reported practices they consider humiliating and traumatizing for the participating minors, aged between 13 and 15 years.
The case came to light as a result of letters written by girls to their families, in which they described mixed showers and controversial behaviors by the monitors. Parents and mothers have reported that the organizers showered naked alongside the teenagers, that some walked around the facilities completely naked, and that games even took place in which minors were asked to suck the monitors’ toes to receive their snack.
According to complaints received by some parents, the camp monitors, which hosts young people aged between 13 and 15 years, showered naked alongside the attending boys and girls. This practice would have generated discomfort and trauma in several adolescents and new complaints report that many caregivers walked around the facilities with their sexual organs exposed. A new letter from another girl has even been provided in which it is read that the monitors went «topless» and undressed.
The most significant new testimony is that of a educator for tutored minors from Gipuzkoa who had already warned his superiors and the Ertzaintza about what was happening in Bernedo less than a year ago, especially regarding behaviors he considers «reportable.» This social worker explained that one of the young people told him that, as a game, they had to suck «the monitor’s toe» to eat the snack.
Another case he reported and that was transmitted by the campers is that the cooks undressed completely to prepare the food and «one of the children did not want to eat.» A large part of the testimonies from camp attendees were sent exclusively to El Correo, a media outlet with which the parents have recently contacted again to provide more details of what their children experienced in recent years.
Numerous affected individuals also report theaters in which they «played» at police and protesters. In this case, the children simulated protesting for some cause and the monitors chased them with sticks in their hands. There was also a case –explains another family– in which a child was thrown an entire pot of peas.
An educator for tutored minors from Gipuzkoa had already alerted his superiors and the Ertzaintza less than a year ago about these behaviors, which he described as «reportable.» Other testimonies refer to cooks undressing completely to prepare the food and «theaters» being organized in which the monitors chased the children with sticks, simulating police charges.
The camp was organized by the association Sarrea Euskal Udaleku Elkartea, which in a statement disseminated on social media defended the mixed showers as a way to «normalize all bodies.» According to the text, «beyond being a place of hygiene,» the showers would be an «opportunity to break stigmas and free ourselves from shame and sexualization.»
The organizers presented the initiative as a «political proposal» based on feminism, Basque language, and collective work, although neither the Álava Provincial Council nor the Basque Government have record that the activity was officially registered. Nor is it recorded that the parents were previously informed of the mixed organization of dormitories and showers.

We, the materialists, have learned by necessity that education and the cisheterosexual systems naturalized that are presented as neutral are the ones that produce cisheterosexual people, desires, and practices «natural» (in quotes). We know that we have suffered education, and why not say it, heterosexual indoctrination. Now we want to use the tools we have learned against you.
Just as we have learned that macho violence is responded to with transfeminist violence –and not with a general neutral and assimilationist peace–, we know that heterosexual education is responded to with transmaribollo education. Call it indoctrination. We want to carry out a transmaribollo indoctrination and we are willing to do it. It wasn’t a joke, the echoes were right: we want to mariconize your children (we usually don’t have children) so that you don’t heterosexualize them, as you did with us. You didn’t fully succeed. And we also have teaching degrees.
