Laghouat está a unos 415 kilómetros de Argel y la diócesis cubre todo el territorio argelino a una latitud más meridional que Laghouat y un poco de territorio a una latitud más septentrional que Laghouat si bien hay que señalar que hoy en día el obispo no tiene su sede en Laghouat sino en Ghardaïa. Es la única diócesis de Argelia que no pertenece a la provincia eclesiástica de Argel sino que está inmediatamente sujeta a la Santa Sede. Como muestran los datos que usted mismo ha puesto, hay pocos católicos, aproximadamente uno cada mil kilómetros cuadrados, hasta el punto de que no llegan a ser ni el 0,1% de la población que habita en el territorio de la diócesis. La inmensa mayoría de la población de la zona es musulmana. Y hablando de la diócesis de Laghouat, hay que hacer referencia al más conocido evangelizador de esas tierras: San Carlos de Foucauld.
